This is the first entry in this journal on my journey. The story of how the trip came to be. About a year and a half ago, I had another car wreck (see picture.) I totaled a car for the third time in my life. What was that all about? Well to make a long story short, I ended up in massage school partly as a result of that wreck. I began a rigorous ten month course of study while, at the same time running my full time business. Last January and February were probably the most intense. Sometime during that time I came up with the idea that my present to myself for my graduation from massage school was going to be a month long solo road trip, partly to see a couple of folks but mostly to get away by myself and see where the four winds would take me. Well, graduation was June 29, 2007. Since that time I have been getting my business and personal affairs in order to allow being gone for a month. I haven't been out of Santa Fe for a month since I moved here 23 years ago, so this is a big deal!
Preparations are still underway, but I intend to leave Sunday, September 9, 2007. I will head eastward and sooner or later get to Dallas where I will stay with one of my grade school friends and his wife. Scary to think we met 47 years ago! It is now a little more than a week before my trip begins.
