Weekly Update (week 3)
Dear friends, Colleagues and relatives.
We have just got back from Prato Delle Velle (The main square in Padua) Where we have managed to follow the english tourist tradition of turning ourselves a lobster pink in the midday sun. Today we visited the Basilica of Saint Gustina which is in the main square. Here we had a very plesant chat with a monk who spoke no word of English and our Italian is still not up to scratch.
Lloyd begins work tomorrow painting masks in Venice. He has met the owner of the workshop. Gabriel. Luckily he speaks really good english.
Sarah is still waiting to finalise her placement as she has her interview on Tuesday. - So she gets an extra day off.
We went to the botanical gardens yesterday- the oldest in the world according to the english leaflet. It was really nice and only cost one euro as we managed to blag a student pass.
We are thinking of visiting Balonga next weekend to visit some of sarahs relatives. It is supposed to be really pretty.
As of yet we have not sampled that much authentic Italian cuisine as we have been shopping at LIDEL. One of our house mates is a spanish girl who is an amazing cook who always manages to make what we cook look really bad. It didnt help when my omlette stuck to the pan and i had to scrap it off making a hash type thing. I could feel her eyes of pitty as i spooned it onto our plates.
However, there have been some succeses, last night we had a really good spagetti bolongnese. And anyhow if thing go really wrong we have always got a really good pizzeria at the end of the road. Thats when they understand out order. Last time we ordered a spatcha pizza when it is said spakka. She looked at us in confusion and replied "come?" We ended up using my dads (peter)oldtrick of pointing to the menu.
Bye for now
Lloyd and Sarah
