Well today was it - the reason we were here in the first place. We had kinda forgotten that we were about to embark into married life whilst having so much fun in Florida.
So, up at 6.30 to get ourselves ready, and then a drive across to the beach to get there for just after 10.30.
We met Heidi & Jay, or organisers and followed them to the beach where we had a choice to have the ceremony in the sand dunes or down by the water. As there were people sunbathing on the beach we opted for the dunes.
At this point on the relatively breezy beach I realised that the hour spent doing my hair in the morning was now wasted as I was now adopting the very fashionable windswept look!
The ceremony was conducted by Jay and he gave us a copy of the vows to take away. Luckily it was quite short as without our sunglasses on we were starting to squint at each other!
A few I do's later and it was time to have some photos taken. At this point we opted for the glasses as we decided that this would look better than the squinting look :)
These photos won't arrive till we get back, just one to keep us going right now.
We said goodbye to Heidi and Jay and went to a beach bar for a drink and some lunch. It turns out there are not any fancy places at the beach, but the beach bar suited us fine and we had steak sandwiches to eat. I really enjoyed my cocktail in the plastic beer glass & mark enjoyed the American football on the tv :) it even had wifi so we could post a photo or two.
A swift change in the car and it was off to the beach to find that my flip flops don't really make writing in the sand! eBay has a lot to answer for.
The beach is lovely, with surfer waves and a great breeze. It was so much nicer to sit at the beach than at the pool, the temperature disguised.
We didn't stay too long as we forgot the sun lotion. Doh.
Then we were off in the car to Orlando Wetlands and nature reserve. I was scared through a large portion of this walk as alligators were present according to the sign. Back in the car! Beautiful landscape, lots of creatures and a couple of miles inside the reserve we drove upon charlies lake. At this lake we got out the car, though i was never more than 4 feet from it. Here we saw a huge gater. As this is miles from anywhere, has no visible park rangers or human beings I prompted mark to take his photos quickly!
I think I was being a bit over cautious as there were signs in the nature reserve to advise on the best fishing methods, what you could fish for. There were picnic tables at the waters edge. There was a camping area not to far away. According to the info, they don't bother you if you don't bother them. But a sign saying no swimming as gaters present was enough to put my bottom back in the car.
And we were off back to Orlando, were we stopped on international drive at Dave and Busters for dinner, a frozen cocktail that gave me brain freeze and some games.
We won a few tickets, and I hope Lara likes smurfs, because this was the prize I picked!
And that was our day. Not the most conventional, but suited us perfectly xxxx
