So I've been and done Adelaide and most of South Australia now!
As a city its good enough, not a huge amount to do there, the city survives on tourists that come to visit the surrounding areas, such as Flinders Ranges and Barossa Valley. Luckily I decided to book a Kangaroo Island tour and it was amazing! Spent my time in the city walking around, went to museums, botanical gardens, the river, boring city stuff! I figured that it could be explored fully in just one or two days so I was really glad I booked my tour! Got picked up at 8.45am on Thursday morning by a lovely ozzie guy called Hamish!!! Had an amazing group, a brilliant tour guide and saw some beautiful scenery and wildlife to see!
Believe it or not... kangaroo's were pretty hard to spot on Kangaroo island! There's plenty of them but they're nocturnal so only really came out at night and early hours of the morning. We got to see a few and lots ran out in front of the van as we were driving, but luckily we didn't knock any over. Plenty of wallabies, goannas (big lizards), penguins, birds, seals and sea lions. Other than see animals we did lots of fun activities. We first had a surfing lesson, which I was rubbish at but it was really fun. Such a good feeling when you manage to stand on the board for the first time and 'ride the wave'! Then caught a cute little boat for a 30minute charter ride across to the island. So many fun activities then when we got there - sandboarding down sand dunes, climbing over weird rock formations, watching the sun rise and set, seeing little penguins bury their homes at night, and plenty more. It was a good feeling being part of the group, we all chipped in with the cooking and cleaning, etc. Had a really great group and tour guide, so was pretty sad when i got back to Adelaide. But I picked myself up quite quickly and remembered that I have plenty more to see and do!
I'm in Alice Springs now after a fun 20.5hour bus journey! It was sooo weird driving through the outback, we travelled 1500km and there would be 3 or 4 hours before reaching each little town. (The mentioned towns having aroun 30-40 people living there!) But I'm here now and have had a brief walk around, bought myself a ridiculously big sun hat ready for my rock tour that leaves at 6.10am in the morning! Fun! I'm off to bed now, shattered!
Miss you all xxx
