I caught the 6.30 flight from Auckland to Melbourne. As my application for a working visa had been received & was staring to be processed (meaning my tourist visa could have been cancelled) I was slightly nervous I'd be starring in the Border Force documentary being deported - but all was fine! Phew!
I got the sky bus into the centre of Melbourne arriving just after 10. I met up with kul for a quick coffee - we joked about how times have changed - we've never met for coffee before! It was always something stronger!
I then got a cab to her house in St Kilda, a trendy beachside suburb. Their house was really nice, the lounge was upstairs & had a loft apartment feel to it being open plan with moving shutters to section off a bedroom & a big balcony.
I dropped my stuff off then headed down the beach, a 20 min walk through st kilda past lots of bars & restaurants. It was a warm day - about 23-25oC, but it was breezy so for Australia it was cool - I stood out wearing a skirt & vest top with my bright white legs while everyone else was wrapped up in jeans & jumpers!
I lay there for about an hour before waking back to the house. I got ready & got the train back into town to meet Pam.
We met at federation square & had some prosecco & Japanese broccoli & beans at a roof top bar overlooking the city. We then met Kul who was out with her work friends, went to a few bars, had a few drinks & then went for pizza & headed home!
* for those who don't know the history, I met Steph while she worked for DWP in Leeds, she lived with Pam, who's twin sister is Kul who I lived when I first moved to London! Pam now lives in Sydney, Kul lives in Melbourne and I'm currently living in Stephs spare room in London until I move to Brisbane!
