Day53

Another couple of fantastic days on Magnetic Island, this really is paradise! I think the only thing that could make it better would be to be sharing it with some of you - I miss you all! I hope you have all had a good week and the fancy dress/interviews went well!

Yesterday Kat and I took a day trip to the Great Barrier Reef, which was absolutely amazing.The boat ride was about 2.5 hours out to "Wheeler Reef", one of the main sections of the reef, and we were really spoilt when we got there. Some of the reef was so shallow we could have touched it, and with snorkels and flippers we saw an amazing amount - the colours are spectacular, both of the coral and the fish. I can't begin to name everything we saw, but suffice to say zebra fish, parrot fish, a nemo with babies(!), a sea turtle and three sharks! A fabulous fabulous day - I think perhaps the best yet.

Today we had a quieter day, and I walked on the island with some fantastic views, and even a little bit of history! The forts from WW2 to observe for Japanese invasion of the Australian mainland are preserved and the lookout is now a fantastic view over three bays and out to sea.

All in all, I will be sad to leave tomorrow - we are headed to the Gold Coast for some real tourist time with theme parks, water parks and possibly some zorbing!
