Hi all!!!!!
Sorry I have been so bad at this. I told myself before I left that I would make a massive effort to keep this up to date- so that you all know I am safe and alive, and so that I have something to read back through when I am 100 and rocking away in my chair!! To be honest though, I have just been caught up a) having no wifi and b) actually just having the most amazing time!!!
Yes, there have been up's and downs. Trying to set up a life here in London is pricey, and the whole nursing thing hasnt gone quite to plan- fingers crossed that all changes soon though- but it really is the most amazing place.
I think I have already mentioned that Jaz and I have really gotten into the touristy things, we figure if we dont do it now we never will. As well, we have really embraced the london pub life- particularly with the Football World Cup going on. Thus far we have a pretty decent group of friends- a few we know from back home and more that weve met. all like minded people, easy going and fun.
In terms for living and working. Jaz and I have spent the last month here in London as nomads.... we really didnt want to let go of Asia! Weve been lucky enough to have an apartment to base ourselves from most of the time, but here and there we have had to move out and crash on couches or return to the hostel lifestyle for a few nights. Currently we are filling a room for an Aussie girl who has gone away fro the week, and then next friday we will be moving into our actual home!! Its so nice- big bedrooms, massive kitchen, lounge (thats a novelty in London, for soe rerason people seem to not want to socialise with their housemates- wierd!!) and a patio/BBQ area. Its amazing!! The flatties all seem pretty cool too- all Kiwis. I think its going to be amazing. will be good to settle down and meet some more people.
Working- well I havent done much of that. As II said, the nursing has hit a bit of a bump. I was looking into nannying- did a few interviews- one lady loved me and wants to fly me out to im not sure where, but wherever it is that her kids are at the moment, to meet them and do a trial, but I did a one off day nannying on Friday and it really isnt for me. The pay is really good, but its long and pretty unflexible hours and really isolating. I could not do 12hr days 5 days a week speaking to 15month old twins!!!! So....I thought I would never say this...but...I have just sent out CV's to a million aged care faclities so that I can hopefuly just work as a carer until I can nurse. We will see. I just really want a job!!
So thats pretty much the long and short of London life at the moment. Its a bit stressful, but im having an amazing time!!
I love and miss you all so much!!!!!!
Would love to hear from you!
Big hugs and Big loves to you all.
xxxxxxxx Tess
