Wow, cannot believe the penultimate flight has been taken and i now have less than 4 weeks left before i'm back on English soils, cant wait!
Had a fantastic time in Indonesia, flew into Bali and met up with some friends to take the 12hour trip over to the Gilli Isles just off Lombok. It was well worth the hell on a slow boat! Absolute paradise, we did nothing but sip watermelon juice and sunbathe!Bliss. After a week i felt i should prob get back to Bali and do a bit of the tourist thingy so made my way to Ubud. A very cute bohemian feel with lots of rice paddy fields and yoga/mediation going on. I stayed in a cute little homestay recommended by Soph ( cheers!) and booked myself on a trek up to Mt Batur for sunrise. Fast forward to possibly the hardest thing i've ever done in my life! I think i totally overestimated my fitness in climbing the 1717m up to the summit for sunrise but made it ........in pain! Well worth it for the view though. And so back to Kuta it was for full on R&R in a lush cottage with amazing pool and there I chilled apart from 1 day trip to Uluwatuh Temple for a traditional Balinese dance at sunset.
Singapore next stop, a nice 2 days spent wandering the streets ( and the shopping malls!). Also made a trip to the night safari which was ace but a shame that you can't take any photos as the flash scares the animals! Oh well, you'll just have to take my word for it.
Am now in Thailand and have just taken a 12 hour overnight train back to Bangkok from Chaing Mai in the north. 3 days of trekking into the jungles of northern Thailand. First stop was an elephant trek which was erm..............nervewracking! I had the greediest elephant of them all, and wouldn't move and inch until i'd fed him 10kg of bananas - cheeky! We then spent the next 3 days trekking through the jungle, stayed with the Karen hill tribe who originate from Mynamar and have fled here due to political conflict and swam in waterfalls. Ended our trip with a great afternoon of bamboo rafting getting very wet !
Have just been for a wander down the infamous Kho Sahn road and off to the southern islands tomorrow, for a couple of weeks.
Hope alls well, i'm off to HOPEFULLY watch England win!
See you all very soon x
