Hello all from Cambodia (Siam Reap)
Done so much since my last blog entry its been amazing. Lets first start with Chang Mai, what a place so much to do and see. Highlights of Chang Mai for me were firstly the elephant sanctuary what a place i got to feed elephants, stand right next to them and stroke them and also the highlight for me was getting into the river and cleaning them. It was such a cool place as it was a sanctuary for elephants who have been mistreated the woman who owns it is amazing, i was so humbled to be around her, please if you ever go to Chang Mai you must go to the elephant sanctuary, it is such a good cause. I am so glad i decided against riding them as it is cruel and unjust please do not ride them as they are hit with hooks in there head and hurt. www.elephantnaturepark.org check it out bit more expensive but a worthy cause.
A further highlight for me was going into the mountains on a moped to see some temples they were great and furthermore i was blessed by a monk a little bit strange but pretty cool, the scenery was really pretty looking down on the city.
Next was the hilarous part i had to get to Laura in Phon Phem as we were spending christmas together in Sianoukville, what a journey 27 hours from Chang mai to Phon Phem i had to get to Bangkok then poi phet on the cambodia border were i was running late for connection to Phon Phem, hence i had to get on the back of someones scooter to chase a bus 10km down the road rucksack on one arm it was hilarous.
Eventually got to Phon Phem only stayed there for 12 hours then me and Laura headed to Sianoukville which was truley breathtaking had some of the best times of my life without hesation, everything was just right for me. So many things were achieved by me and Laura there without feeling stressed out.
Things that we done were got a boat trip which was truly amazing there was only 5 of us on the boat, me and Laura were quite concerned as the other 3 people were really old and we bought a bottle of whisky for only 3 dollars, we felt embarrased about this but in the end they were really cool hippys and all was good, in the end the boat trip was breathtaking we went to some deserted islands great pictures to follow, did some snorkling and drank half a bottle of whisky each good times. We also went to splash which was like a water park for kids except for me and Laura, we had so much fun trying to climb up a inflatble mountain with only one arm not so clever though.
Getting drunk was also a highlight we managed to find a nice little pub crawl on the beach where we started at dolphin which in happy hour was 7p for a beer never go wrong with that. We also seemed to end up in a club called JJs it was so much fun on average we were out until at least 4am, my pole dancing skills were fully tested but i think they were very succesful, when the owner comes up to me and says that me and Laura have rocked the place. (big shout out to the jj"s crew) and the great friends that we made there you will never be forgotten.
One final highlight for me was christmas day i will take it to the grave with me. Me and Laura firstly decorated our room with tinsel etc played christmas songs, exchanged presents (Laura thanks for the camp shorts), had a 3 course diner on the beach literally 5 meters away from the sea it was just perfect and at the end of the meal just seeing the sunset coming down it was truly breathtaking, the only thing we missed was the snow in England jealous of you guys in one way. We then got to speak to our parents via skype which was really nice, we got to speak to eacothers parents which was really cool to (also Laura your mum is scouse its untrue love it.) Laura left a day earlier than me which was pretty sad to Vietnam boo hoo, but on the plus side we have booked our accomadation for the full moon party in a couple of weeks were we will be reunited god help that full moon party, its not going to no what has hit it.
In Siam Reap at the moment had a hideous bus journey 11 hours of bouncing up and down and then being caged in after the journey, being grabbed by tuk tuk drivers they are truly a*******s, first time i have told someone to f***off.
Edited the blog so i could add this. Visited Angker Watt today the description is as followed to what it is:
Angkor Wat (Khmer: អង្គរវត្ត) is the largest[1]Hindu temple complex in the world, situated at Angkor, Cambodia, built by King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and capital city. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious centre since its foundation - first Hindu, dedicated to the god Vishnu, then Buddhist. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia,[2] appearing on its national flag, and it is the country's prime attraction for visitors.
My word wow got see sunrise and sunset both where just amazing because of the reflections you can see, the temples are the coolest things i have seen. l had a tuk tuk driver who drove me around all day around the temples for 15 pounds well cheap please look at the pictures i cannot describe how beautiful they where. I reckon i have gained 60 mosquito bites for my troubles well worth it though.
Hope everyone is good in the UK and has had a great christmas and has new year.
