Saturday morning we "slept in" until about 8:00AM…which is not necessarily a sleep-in in everyone's books, but it sure is for me! We went for a walk through Montmartre in the morning up to see the Sacre Coeur, & I managed to rescue Nigel from aggressive scammers who tried to put something around his risk. A common scam I've been told about it one where they will come up and grab you buy the wrist, pretending to be friendly, then they will slip something around your wrist that ties you to them, which you can't undo, & won't let you go until you pay them money. I fended them off with a fierce "Non!" & we managed to escape down the street.
We went on a mission to find the Laura Todd cookie shop (which Vanessa recommended to me), but when we finally made it there it was closed for renovations!!! SO sad :( So we went to a little bistro & had nutella crepes instead. Then we went to the gardens in front of the Eiffel Tower to put the high speed burst function on my camera to work, taking jumping photos in front of the famous monument, along with all the other tourists that flock there every day.
In the afternoon we had yet another nap (STILL trying to catch up on sleep & get better…I've now infected Nigel too so we're both a bit sniffly & sick!), then we got up to get ready for our dinner at Kong. Don't know if you remember from previous blogs, but when I was in Paris with Esther, the Frenchman who was working on the shower in our hostel room one day recommended a few restaurants to us, one of which was called Kong. Esther & I didn't get a chance to check it but I managed to make it there with Nigel…
It's an amazing bar that's situated on Pont Neuf right across the river from the small island that the Notre Dame is on. You have to go up to the fifth floor of this building that has a great view out across the river & it's a really funky bar, with a restaurant upstairs. It's very modern, & fantastically decorated, with kitschy plastic chairs & flowers inside the glass bar top. We sat at the bar & started our evening with a Rossini champagne cocktail (champagne with strawberry liqueur & red fruit puree), & an apple martini (known to Scrubs fans as an Appletini…yes, Nigel had an apple tini, but unlike JD's his was not easy on the tini :P hehe).
We were soon shown to our seats upstairs & because we were the first people in the restaurant we go the best seat in the house! Right by the window looking out over the river :) For second round of cocktails I had a Lili & Rose (a house specialty made with a rose liqueur syrup & raspberries), & Nigel had a Kim Kong (another fancier version of an appletini). We also shared a tasting plate with sashimi, teriyaki chicken, prawns, s***ake mushroom macaroons, & tuna tartare. Then for our mains we shared a prawn & crab ravioli, & gambas rolls (which is kind of like a garlicy prawn sushi). It was delicious! Very fresh, inventive food. We finished off with a Long Island Iced Tea & a Caprioska Fruits Rouge, and an apple tart tartin, which came with a pot of double cream. Om nom nom! Great food, great cocktails, great service, great company! Great way to spend our final night in the beautiful city of lights! :)

Dad Lovely pic, Precious. Lovely to see you up in Chamonix last night. Keep well, Love DadXO
Mutti What a wonderful, wonderful trip you are having. A column in this morning's paper reminded me of you. It was headed "French Women don't get fat!" and was written by someone holidaying in France and telling of all the various meals and eateries she was enjoying -- and always the "frites". However, I think yours seems even more enjoyable! I was going to type it and e-mail it to you, but Pops has already sent it on to your Mum. Bet Mark will be asking for your cocktail recipes! Love you Mutti xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Nigel's dad Wonderful to hear the details of your culinary adventures, a little different to the 400 gms steaks in the Carnarvon pub last night. Stay safe and thanks for rescuing Nigel at Sacre Coeur, what a shame people like that can destroy the image of a wonderful landmark. Love to both of you
Ma x S***ake mushrooms!?!? Are you serious!?!?
Liv lol I didn't even see that until you pointed it out Mum! For the record, that was their censoring, not mine! haha Clearly there's still some technological advances to go...haha
