Netherlands-Belgium 19/07/08-23/07/08 Mike, Liv and Steve
Flew into Enidhoven in the Netherlands, another great budget Ryanair flight. Travelled up be train to Amsterdam, stayed for two nights in Amsterdam. In a hotel right in the centre, with the steepest stairs we have ever seen, more like ladders.
Went to a couple of coffeeshops and sampled the local "coffee," which for some strange reason did something funny to my legs. Its a big strange going into shops and seeing them growing cannabis plants.
Decided we should actually see some of the country, so went on a bike ride into the countryside past some big windmills to a clog and cheese factory. Seemed a bit dodgy riding the wrong way round roundabouts and passing on the left.
The red light district was interesting but quite sleazy we got offered charlie by every second person we passed, not sure who charlie is but he's very popular.
Spent one night in Den Haag, went to the Scheveningen a famous beach that apparently attracts 9 million visitors a year, I think we went on a quiet day.
Spent the last night in Brussels, Belgium. Went on a day trip to Bruges, went on a boat tour around the canals. Apparently Bruges is know as the little venice of the north.
