21/11/07-04/11/07 Queensland.
Spent a night at my cousin's place, Mandy's in Brisbane. We went to Seaworld for the day, after finding a replacment tyre for the one that I ripped a hole in on Mandy's drive and reattaching the side mirror. Headed up North after Seaworld, while looking for a place to stay the radiator burst in the dirty ford. So we parked it up for the night and walked to the campground, luckily the next day we found a mechanic who could fix it that day. A few dollars poorer and more enlightened on the joys of a small town we were on our way.
Took in the sights up the coast, stayed at Bribie Island. Saw the glass house mountains. Had a look at the beaches in moolabaa and maroohydre. We stayed a couple of nights in Noosa, great place the people are friendly. Then spent a couple of nigts at beautiful camping spot on Inskip pensisula, $9 for a campsite right on the beach and views of Fraser Island across the channel. See Fraser Island blog and photos.
Spent a night in Hervey bay, another great beachfront campsite. Next day stayed at deepwater national park, the road was a bit rough on the way in, Liv pointed out the next day that the brochure recommened a 4wd. Spent a couple of nights in Yeppon with friends of Liv's family, Frank and Yvonne. Yvonne kept us well feed and Frank kept us well hydrated.
Spent a night at Airlie beach, unfortunately didn't mange to catch up with Glen. From Airle beach we headed up to Townsville.
We decided we had time to head across to Magnetic Island for the night. A half hour ferry ride from Townsvile gets you to Magnetic Island. We left the car in Townsvile and hired a topless Daihaitsu once on the island, it felt pretty strange driving that after the falcon. With no doors but low sides on the car, Livi did look very elegant climbing out with a skirt on. We treated our selfs on the island to bungalow style accomodation at a backpackers rather than the tent and a meal out at the pub and a few beers instead of a one pot meal on the gas cooker. The stinger season has just started so we could only swim on the island within the stinger nets, but at 7am when we went for our morning swim we had the area to ourselves. We had to leave around noon on the 4th Dec to start on the drive across to Darwin. Check out our Queensland photo album.
