Hey guys!!!
Yep i know i'm getting worse with updating my blog but i've been doing loads that i've not had the chance! Everyone seems to be on facebook anyway so you know i've not forgotten you!!
Ok, the Reef Encounter boat on the Great Barrier was amazing! I did 5 days, one including a night dive where i saw sharks and turtles sleeping - so cool. I ended up not working on the boat as i felt bloody sea sick and was ready to get off the boat after 2 days!! I met a lovely Brisbane girl called Sally and we had a blast so that helped...although she ended up getting it on with an Irish Divemaster so deserted me every so often!
After that i went to The Whitsunday's where i ended on, not a sailing boat like i hoped, but a bloody party boat with about 45 other people!!! And my camera batteries died as soon as i got on the boat...I was not impressed, but it was all my fault as i didn't check it out both the boat and my camera properly! Saying that tho i had a great time as i met a lovel Brazilian girl who was my photographer and it is absolutely lovely there - plus i did more diving so i was happy! The drunk Irish people did prove to be good entertainment with one guy getting so smashed he started sunbathing naked and being arrested when the boat docked!!
From there i went to Fraser Island, the biggest sand island in the world, and did a 4WD Jeep self drive tour which was wicked! We had such a laugh and i was the first girl in the group to step up and drive...god the whole jeep went quiet; i mean i don't think my driving is that bad!!!! Everyone survived anyway and we had some good nights drinking and playing games....i even discovered one morning that a dingo had stolen my box of wine!!!! There were footprints going past my tent and up to the jeep...although we later found it in a bush (untouched!) so all was not lost!! Obviously not a lover of red wine! I got on really well with a girl called Cat and we ended up meeting up with each other all the way down the East Coast! I wasn't alone!!
Next i went back to Brisbane for the 3rd time! I booked into a backpackers instead of staying with Becks as i didn't want her having to put up with me again! This was (what i thought at the time!) a bad mistake as the hostel i booked into was a nightmare. I was so tired after Fraser Island that i wanted to sleep at about 10.30pm. The girls in my room had other plans and talked, screamed, decorated the room in toilet paper till 2am in the morning!!! I was close to tears. So, for the first time since i'd been away, i treated myself to a double room for 2 nights which proved worthwhile in the end ; )
I had a night out with Becks, a friend of Becks and Cat who was in Brisy at the same time. Becks got really drunk!!!! I ended up texting a brisy guy i met back in June (if you look back at the pictures i refer to him as bearded weirdo!!!!). So we met up the following night and erm, the double room at the hostel wasn't such a bad idea after all!!!! Sorry mum!!!! : )
After Brisy i went to Byron Bay which i absolutely loved!!! Me and Cat stayed at the same hostel and it was her birthday one day so we had tarot cards and our birthcharts done in the morning which were spookily spot on. Then we went surfing in the afternoon after there had been a great white shark attack in the morning! We didn't know about it until it was too late so couldn't back out - even though all the other surf schools had cancelled their lessons!! In the end we were more concerned with staying on the surf board and we ended up having a good laugh and not being attacked by a great white! After we had a big night out to celebrate of course.....
After i said goodbye to Cat with the promise of seeing her in Sydney - Andy (bearded weirdo!) came down from Brisy to meet me for the weekend and we stayed in a 5* hotel. What luxury for a backpacker!!!! There was a bath, towels, bathrobes, big bed...the works. I even tried to get up at 5am to watch the rugby final but was too tired.....he he!
After saying goodbye to Andy - and guys, if i had been in Brisy longer i think i could have fallen; you know what i'm like, heart on my sleeve especially if it's a good thing! I might have never come back to England - i moved onto Sydney.
Oh wow the Opera House was amazing! Along with Ayers Rock/Uluru it's what symbolises Oz for me. The harbour bridge was great too. Cat and i had a good night out at 360 bar where we had to dress up and be posh and then went onto watch an Opera at the Opera House which was surprisingly good! We also had a night out at King's Cross where we ended up watching a strip show...all Cat's idea of course! She's a bad influence!!!
From Sydney i went to Melbourne and did the Neighbour's tour which is really sad, but was great to do! I don't watch it anymore of course but had to do it for old times sake!! The whole set and street is so much smaller in real life. But it's so weird as you know it so well. I also met up with a old school mate called Penny who emigrated 12 years a go so it was great to see her too! It's weird that in all that time not much has changed apart from she has a bloody aussie accent!!
I'm now in Adelaide after having a great time doing the Great Ocean Road (and going past the Round the Twist lighthouse - does anyone remember that apart from you sis?!) and also going to the Grampian mountains. Adelaide in my opinion is a weird place - it doesn't seem to have any character and seems so plain - so i'm off to the Barossa Valley tomorrow for a wine tour!!!!! Bring it on!
I go across the Nullabor Plain to Perth on the Indian Pacific train on Thursday which takes 36 hours...in just an upright seat! I really want to do it so i'm looking forward to it - though that might change after 36 hours!!
So all in all i've had a much better time coming down the east coast than i thought i would and have met some great people....i'm loving it : ) Although i've managed to lose so much - my camera case with my memory cards and pictures : ( loads of clothes and electrical stuff!
Hope everyone is well and i will try and do pictures when i can.
Love you loads!
