Hellloooooo!!
How crap am i at keeping my blog up to date a?! (I've adopted the aussie way of putting 'a' on the end of a sentence - everything is a question!!).
I have done soooooo much since the last blog and taken loads of pictures (which i will try and put on soon!) so i will try to keep this nice and short!
From Brisbane i flew to Uluru (Ayers Rock) which was AMAZING. To me the big red rock symbolises Oz. Sunset was beautiful, sunrise was beautiful, i didn't climb it in the end as the aboriginals frown upon it (it's sacred and a pilcrimage for them - plus many people have died; and there were really strong summit winds that day so i couldn't climb it anyway!!!). Everywhere you went in Uluru resort you could see the rock! The flight into Uluru was amazing too as you fly over desert for ages and then you see it!!
From there i flew into Perth which was like England and bloody rained everyday i was there! Needless to say i still enjoyed it as the hostel and people were great (a nice Chilean man might have something to do with that!) and i chilled out in the lounge watching movies and had a big night out with a live band and dj after. I also got looked after by Katy and her family (an old friend from school/college and good mate of Kim - thanks hun!) who has just emigrated, and i got to stay in their lovely house and really got looked after with a double bed and roast beef dinner!! Mmmm....amazing what you miss!
From there i took a tour up the West Coast from Perth to Broome. The West coast is beautiful...i have slept under the stars in a 'swag', seen so many stars and shooting stars, seen soooo many beautiful sunsets you almost take it for granted! I went to the Pinnacles, saw the dolphins at Monkey Mia, went to Karijini National Park and had to sleep round dingoes and share a 'drop' toilet (everything falls to a pit!) with redback spiders and king brown snakes!! But the park is beautiful.
I recovered in Broome for 10 days as the travelling is shocking! Western Oz is about the size of Western Europe! So these 10 blissful days were spent by the pool, on the beach (lovely 31 degrees!), in a hammock, watching sunsets and going to the open deck cinema, and doing yoga, yes yoga! Of course i had to throw a couple of big nights in there!! Thursday nights are big in Broome and the Oasis club has a wet t shirt competition where you can win $500! I was very very tempted!! But of course i didn't : ) Broome has a pearling trade and history - many Japanese and Aboriginals worked and died diving for pearls here. It was also hit by Japan in airaids in WWI. Broome has a big problem with aboriginals; you couldn't really go out after dark and all the liquor stores stopped selling 'goon' (4 litre boxes of cheap wine!) after 6pm as there is such a big drinking problem!
I moved onto the Kimberley's after that (Region 3 times the size of England!) on a 5 day 4wd tour to Darwin. We camped in swags and didn't wash for all that time and we even played the didgeridoo!! It was such a good laugh, with most of us making farting noises...although i'm up for buying one as i think there's room for improvement!!! The Kimberley's are another natural beauty!
We had a really good group and so hung out together when we got to Darwin - which is really bloody hot and humid. Queue afro hair!!! Plus this place is very social - apparently the biggest piss up in Oz!! So we had a good night out of course : ) I also did a 'jumping croc' cruise where we saw crocs as big as 6 metres jumping for food!!!
All in all Western Australia and the Northern Territory are beautiful and so remote that i loved it. I flew into Cairns this morning and i'm ready to hit the East Coast! I'm very wary as i know it's suppose to be a party coast, and s*** i've pretty much run out of money!!! But i'll be b*****ed to work again (my flexible friend is now my best friend!). I'm off on a boat for a few nights which goes to the great barrier reef - i'm going to work as a host in exchange for free dives/night dives/food/accommodation so i'm really looking forward to that! Then it's the Whitsundays for some more relaxtion. Life is hard a?!?!
Sorry this isn't as amusing as the last one! There are stories ; )!! I do all miss you loads though and i hope life is good for you all!!
Love Caz xxxxx
ps. i've got sooooooo many freckles!!!
