Bula!!!!!
I am currently at Nadi airport in Fiji awaiting my flight to Auckland and have plenty of time to kill -i'm at a dodgy internet post with a metal keyboard so apologies for crap spelling!!
I don't know where to start with Fiji, it's been amazing! From getting really burnt island hopping to diving with SHARKS off the south coast of the mainland it's been wicked.
I got to LA airport slightly drunk, thanks to Dan and Em, and landed in Fiji with a cold and sore throat (i got your bug Ang!) which i've just managed to shake off. We were welcomed to the airport with a 'Bula' (hello/welcome) song and i met 2 guys going to my hostel, Luke and Michael. Us 3 decided to go into town and got called into a kava drinking session (yuk!) but then got scammed into buying something from their shop - honestly i don't think they would have let us leave alive, and i thought Fijians were suppose to be friendly!!
Feeling stupid, i got mysef a 7 day bula pass to hop any island i wanted bagging a seat on the boat between 2 hot Brazilian men, who didn't pay much attention to me and obviously loved themselves, but i didn't care as i was the envy of all the girls on the boat!! : )
First island was Nacula, right up north and was very basic and quiet. I chilled for 2 days, visiting a village church service on Sunday and having lunch in a locals home with an Irish girl Una that i'd met on the boat.
Next island was Waya Lailai which haad an Eco lodge and i loved. Another 2 days included chilling, doing a hike to the top of the island with amazing views of all the islands (camera typically died after taking one picture!), snorkelling (although i got out the sea pretty quickly when i saw a sea snake heading for my mask!!), playing poker and s***head when it was raining, and playing musical statues with the staff in the evening!!
Next island was Beachcomber, party island, with 100 plus beds in the dorm, and i bumped into the hot Brazilians again - this time wearing speedos on the boat!!! I drank and danced like a maniac for the one night i was there and had a great time! Although i was absolutely shocked to see girls gettting ready llike it was a Saturday night in London!? Full make up, best clothes, even hairdryers and straighteners!!? Surely this is not what travelling is about?!? I had left my main pack on the main land and was living in onne set of clothes for a week - no wonder the Brazilians paid me no attention : ) I did learn some South American card games tho with some lovely Argentian guys too so i have been a very lucky girl!
Last island was Beachcomber, where they filmed the first Celebrity love Island and you could walk around in 30 mins. Very idyllic and i recovered from Beachcomber with a couple of drinking games.
Back on the mainland i decided to go to Coral Coast to a place called Beachouse. Turned up only to realise that it was where they filmed the 2nd Celebrity Love Island - you'd think i was some crazed fan!!!! It was cool tho as i recognised loads from the show : ) This place was lovely and had hot water and afternoon tea and sang songs round a beach fire, but i had to share a dorm with 7 guys (one of them Michael who i'd met on my first day in Fiji) and proved to be a bit weird......
....after a night of drinking i went to my dorm at 1am to be woken up by Carl at 3.30am asking if he could jump into my bed. Erm no. Then the next day Cameron said he saw Michael come back early hours and just stare at me while i was sleeping?!?!?? Then a turkish guy asked if i wanted a massage or if i would massage him and walked around in a THONG!? To top it all off there was a guy who looked like a psycho and everytime i said hi he would just stare......
So i pretty much checked outta there and made my way further down the coast on a local bus to a place called Pacific Harbour where i got a self contained flat all to myself really cheaply and decided thhe only way i could erase what had happened was to do 2 shark feeding dives!!!!? It is the best thing i have ever done in my life!!!!? Dive one was at 30 ms and we saw all typess of fish and 5 typess of shark. I got looked aftter by 'Papa' the dive master as i haven't dived in 2 years - but this meant i had to go WITH HIM when he fed the sharks!? I actually STROKED a 3.5 metre nurse shark from head to tail-amazing! There were swarms of fish all over the place and sharks circling above our heads!! The 2nd dive was at 16 ms and was just feeding bull sharks - these things are HUGE! 4.5ms. Not allowed to touch these babies......unfortunately no sign of a tiger shark which surprisingly i was well up for seeing!
Anyway, i am still on a high from it and it seems like a mad thing to do but i wasn't scared at all. I would do it again if i could!
Ok - i'm running out of tiime and have writtten too much as it is!!? I will put some photos on asap and sort out the spelling mistakes!!? Hope you're still reading....miss you alll loads and hopefully i won't be a loner in Neew Zealand!
Bye for now! xxxxx
