Saturday 30th January.
We were having a pamper day today. The weather wasn't great and we both decided it was what we needed. Any excuse. We booked in at Brisbane Hair Studio which is part of Brisbane school of hairdressing. We didn't realise when we were trying to find it that we walked passed it and around the centre for 30 minutes, before coming back. Typical. The girl who did our hair was originally from the UK and she was really nice. It wasn't really busy in any of the hairdressers we had seen in Oz, which is good because we didn't want to spend all day there waiting. We had a cup of tea, of course, and chilled out. We were there for a couple of hours then booked in at professioNAIL to get a manicure and pedicure. It was really busy but really efficient and we didn't have to wait around. We both loved the pedicure because they sat you in a massage chair whilst they did it, and I could have easily fell asleep. Once we were all pampered we grabbed some cider from the liquor store and went back to the hostel to get showered and changed. We wanted to listen to some live music and our hairdresser had recommended 'Irish Murphy's bar' which was in the centre. We had a couple of drinks in the hostel bar and Jacob joined us who we met the day before. He brought Emil who was Swedish and staying in his room. Emil was with two girls as well but they were too tired to come out so he wanted some friends to drink with. It's really nice but crazy how when you are travelling you literally just talk to anyone and become friends with strangers all the time. It's always ok to just ask someone if you can hang out with them or go on a trip with them, and no one thinks it's weird. Back in England everyone is a lot more reserved and keep themselves to themselves. It's really made me change my way of thinking and I love the freedom of meeting new people with no judgements. Everyone is from different parts of the world and walks of life and you learn something new all the time. We all went to Irish Murphys and met a couple of girls, one from the UK and one local, and had a drink with them, then spent the night dancing to the music and having a laugh and left when the bar closed. As the Aussies would say, we had 'heaps' of fun!
