Monday 4th January.
We landed in Dubai around 7 hours later which now felt like 04:30 to my body but was actually 08:30, and I still hadn't slept. We had a 7 hour connection and i had read about the snooze cubes at the airport which are 28 U.S dollars an hour for a twin cube for two people. It is literally a boxed room with two twin beds in and a tv and plug. We couldn't even shut the door until we were sat on the beds because there was no room. The walls were painted with scenic pictures though and because it was cool, it was surprisingly comfortable and relaxing. We spent three hours in there and I managed to sleep for half the time at least. After our snooze we went to grab a snack and then headed to the gate. It literally takes about 20-25 minutes to get to the gate from the shops as the airport is so big. We even had to get a tram at one point.
We boarded our flight to Bangkok on time and were pleased to hear it was only going to take 5 hours instead of the 6/7 hours we were expecting. We had two seats on our own at the back which was nice, and managed to lie back without bothering anyone behind us. I decided to stay awake on this flight so I would sleep once we got to our hotel in Bangkok. I watched 'The Dark Knight' and 'Adele live in London' to keep me entertained. We had quite bad turbulence which is never fun. You know it's bad when the captain is asking the cabin crew to take their seats too, which they don't usually do. After a bit of a bumpy ride, we landed in Bangkok at 00:10 local time (7 hours head of UK). We had to go through immigration to exit the airport for us to get to our hotel. We got a shuttle bus from outside which the Novotel arrange as part of your stay, and they took us across to our hotel which was a few minutes down the road. The hotel was really nice and worth the price (approx £55 each). I've stayed in worse places in England for more money! There was a bit of fuss sorting our booking as someone had put it through for the following day but the receptionist was really efficient and soon sorted it. We had a superior twin room, and the beds were bigger than your usual single beds, and really comfy. Kirsty made a cup of tea and we put the tv on briefly but then I couldn't hold my eyes open and fell asleep.
