Hey guys,
Well finally my last ever blog, reporting from Singapore!! Sad times, although we have mixed emotions, happy to go home to get in our own beds, real mum food and a bath!! But sad its all come to and end, far too quickly!!!
We have spent 11 nights here in Singapore, a little longer than planned but it has been a blast. We ahve treated it just like a holiday and have explored with plenty of time and relaxation as a holiday should be :P
We spent our first 4 nights in a nice hotel close to Orchard Road, the main shopping street. And boy the shops are impressive.
Throughout these 4 days we were very lazy and decided to sunbath and rest :) We spent most our time chilling on the roof terrace, it was lovely, spectaular views of the city :)
We ventured down 'Orchard Road' and boy there are so many shopping centres here, in and out every 100ft!!! They have every shop you can think of!!! Shopaholics dream!! Would have been ours if we havent spent all our money haha!
It got a little boring after a while, but we got all the way to the end!!!
After chilling after 4 days and also seeing our two friends kyle and danni from new zealand? if you remember? We spent one day with danni, her last day, this was really good we went to visit Kampong glam and had smoothis and cheap food, really nice day!
We finally ventured to Emmas house, (A Lady i worked with at Aedas) where we did more resting!!!! she lives in a lovely complex with a large swimmingpool and great views from her balcony!! We met her latest child, Seb he was aso cute, and little Mia her 2 yeah old daughter :) We have a lovely time there. We went along the Beach front only a 10 min walk from her appartment. Very pretty but loads and loads of ships ont he water, really not too pretty this part. However, we hired a Tandum bike and had a right laugh, i was driving at the front and lucy had a great view of my bottom at the back. we rode all along the Prominade, it was a lovely day sun beaming down and we also got caught in rain, but it was rather nice!!! We rode for 2 hours and had very sore bottoms lol. We saw a wild monkey in one of the trees, very rare in Singapore, we just happened to be in the right spot at the right time, it was awesome!
After being fed and looked after at Emmas, we moved back into the City where we have been staying for 5 nights at another hostel called ABC backparkers, It is slight different to our posher hotel at first, this one is a bit dodgy, with a bathroom in the kitchen and washing room, but none the less we are only sleeping here so doesnt really matter. :) We have managed to spend everyday looking at all the iconic places such as, Chinatown, Little Indian, Kampong Glam, Marina Bay and the Esplinade, Boat Quay and Clark Quay, Botanical Gardens and Fort Canning park. We have also visited various Mosques and Temples and Museums, It has been a fun packed filled site seeing time for us. We have really enjoyed it!
We randomly came across 'The fountain of Wealth' which was stunning, a very impressive fountain, one if the largest where you have to ait for the show to finish, with spectaular light and laser show, to walk around the fountain 3 times with right hand in the water, then to make a wish, i hope mine comes true :)
We were in one of the shopping centres just at the right time to see a fashion show was very impressive, the costums were very pretty and the dancing was unusual and impressive!
We went to Raffles hotel one night! Very popular with almost every travelier that arrives in Singapore, Tradition is to go to the long bar and buy a Singapore Sling cocktail and eat nuts, hahaha was very cool and expensive lol!!! $30 for one, this is like 15 pounds, howevere we shared one and had a lovely time!! Was a good experience. The hotel is very posh and costs like 500pounds a night! very classy!
We also watched a secondary high school class performing musical songs by the Esplinade, this was very good and we reall enjoyed it, singing along haha!
Little India is awesome, so very cheap and great aroma smells, we got many of souviners and gifts from here! We had a Henna tattoo done on our right hand, they are very pretty and will last for 2 weeks :) so many of you will see it :) had to get involved with the cutlture :)
Kampong Glam was also very cool, a sweet little street with food places and shops, with an awesome view of Sultan Mosque at the end of the street. Brilliant!!!!
We went in a temple in China town were they were singing? verey cool experience!!!!
We visited the Botanical Gardens yesterday, it was ok, but we had seen many other ones which were a lot prettier, so we just sunbathed in the park haha!
The food here is great, very cheap and so much selection!! we can eat out for $2 this is like 1 pounds, and you get loads! There are great fruit smoothie and fruit stalls too at such low prices!! Amazing! We love it!!
Our last night last night was very special, we went to Boat quay for a lovely dinner, although got charged for eating what we thought were complimentary nuts and using 'free' hand wipes haha, we then ventured around to Clark Quay and saw an awesome 'International Liondancing competition' this was brillaint, we saw countries from Indoneasia, Malaysia, Singapore etc competing, very impressive we loved it around this time of night as the lights started turning on and the atmosphere was really good. We watched the show for an hour or so then went to Haagan Dazs for a lovely desert, Brownie Explosion, was divine!!!!!!!!!
Today is our last day and evening before flying back home!!!!
We plan on spending the day lazing around the park relaxing, before heading out to fly on the Singapore big wheel, the biggest in the world! Im very excited, havent been on a big wheel before, and we are timing it right so we get daylight and evening :) a great way to end our awesome traveling experience and our time in Singapore!
Well we are going to end our trip now, relaxing in the park and no doubt reminising our time together and people we have met.
Our flight is at 11.30 tonight (24th Jan 09) and arrive home at roughly 6.30am 25th Jan 10....... yes a 14 hour flight a killer, but we will watch lots of films and sleeps loads,
Our bodies will be used to many hours a head so be prepared for jet lag!!!!
We have had such a wicked time and cant wait for our next adventure!!!!!
Love you all loads and see you back in sunny England, yahooooooooooooooo!!!!
