Day 78 - 26th Mar
Up bright and early as we had loads of stuff to do before we even headed off driving to Fraser. Met the rest of our group, 3 Irish lads and 1 Irish Girl. Had to pack the truck ready to go with all our stuff for camping and do all the checks on the car before we drove it. Loading it up was interesting, I think this was when we became glad that the Irish lads were there, they all got stuck in climbing about on the roof, at least they knew what to do, the rest of us had no idea!! Then had our moral boosting talk from Luke 'smiles on the dials' about how to drive on the sand and generally how to have a good time, then they sent us packing to fend for ourselves for the next 3 days. I was riding in the front with 2 of the Irish guys James and Declan, who were so funny, glad I picked that seat I think I got the most comfort especially when we got on to Fraser, as we were going over quite a few bumps. We had a little convoy going, there were 6 trucks from the hostel and all of us headed in the same direction, to Lake McKenzie. Lake McKenzie was so beautiful, couldn't actually believe it, the water was crystal clear and sand was so nice, so we spent a couple of hours here. Was nice chance to chat and get to know the people in our group, they were all really nice and got a good mix of people. After the lake I volunteered to drive!! It was so much fun, really bumpy roads for the first part, but I had James in the front to help me out not that I needed it that much! Driving along the beach was the most fun though, bit weird driving such a big vehicle but sooo fun! We drove until we found where we were going to stay for the night, where all the other trucks in our convoy had pulled up near a place called the pinnicles. Set up camp quickly, and me, vix, d and with some help from James made the dinner of Steak and Potato Salad. After dinner we played some get to know you drinking games, and I think everyone got pretty drunk since we were celebrating Sinead (irish girl) birthday and it was our first night on the island, ended the night with most of us ended up skinny dipping.
