We got the bus over to the Blue Mountains which are about a two hour drive west of Sydney. We were dropped at a view point to see the Three Sisters, a rock formation, where there were stunning views across the valley. From here you could see the cable cars that cross and the steepest railway in the world which goes up a section of the mountains.
We walked through the Jamison Valley, saw the Katoomba waterfall where there was actually some water falling as there had been some rain! We then got the steep railway back to the top! The seats were angled so you didn't fall out and it sure was steep, almost vertical. We also visited Govett's Leap and the Gorse Valley and then got dropped off at a YHA hostel in the little town of Katoomba. Not much there, but did see and IMAX film in the evening which was about the area, environment etc. and the discovery of the Wollimi pine which was thought to be extinct. It's exact location is kept top, top secret!

Walked the Grand Canyon. It took about three hours or so and we walked along the creek in the rainforesty bits and then back up the top for great views over the Gorse Valley. Then back to Sydney...
