Delhi - an incredible journey into a different world of people, language, food and chaos. We walked the Old City's crowded back alleys shared with motorcycles, tuk-tuks, carts and throngs of people. We tried the local fare (with some guidance) ranging from the stuffed Parawathes in a small street stall serving since 1875 to a sumptuous dinner at the Imperial Hotel's. Spice Road which has not changed very much since British Colonial rule.
Agra - we took a 5 hour car trip that allowed us to see the towns/villages that will soon be bypassed by Western visitors to the Taj Mahal as the new superhighway opens on 1 August which will cut the journey (and adventure!) down to 2 hours. We spent the night at the Oberieri Hotel where are rooms overlooked the Taj. We arose at 4:45 to be at the Taj for sunrise and it is as magnificent and stunning as you imagine. Having a guide is a must to fully appreciate its construction. We also visited the Red Fort in Agra before returning to Delhi and our flight to Dubai.
