Derry's review;
The best time I had was when I went horse riding in Ecuador. The horse I rode was called Lucas. He was a brown horse and he was led by a man called Wilson. On Lucas I walked I trotted and I even cantered.
The place I really liked was the Galapagos Islands. My best buddy was called Soledad. We went on a ship called the Galapagos Legend.
And there was another place I went to that was a good place. It was in Costa Rica and the place that we stayed in was called Leaves & Lizards. It was a really good time to go because there was a baby sloth that had fallen down from a tree the day before we came. THE END!
Finn's review
On our trip I met lot's of friends my favourite friend was called peter he bought me a skateboard!
My favourite country was California because there was a lot of amazing landscapes I also liked the Galapogos islands because of the wildlife my favourite animal is the frigate bird because of it's displaying pouch (the big red thing around it's neck.)
The most amazing thing I saw was the highest navigable lake in the world it was lake Titikaka it was amazing because of it's blueness it was very clear water.
In America we went to a theme park called Six Flags there was two parts of the place, a theme park and a water park we went to the water park with our friends (the Duncans).
It was amazing because of all the adrenaline and my favourite ride was called the water rally.
One of my most favourite moments was when we got to a place in Costa Rica called leaves and lizards because when we got inside first we were welcomed then one of the owners showed us a sloth they had found that had fallen out of a tree! A few days later he was back into the trees, we named him Chewy because he looked like Chewbacca from Star Wars.
My favourite experience was sleeping above the cab in our RV.
Oh and I will never forget the Poo Pipe
Siena's review;
Ecuador - Ecuador was rather difficult to get used to, possibly because it was the first step of our travels and I was still just getting used to it, but what was rather unnerving about Ecuador was the fact that there were armed guards outside almost every single shop or restaurant. My favourite good memory, though, is that of when we went up Cotopaxi, even though we hardly did anything!!! I suppose what makes it special is the fact that you are so high up and that it is an active volcano but it is still snowing on it!!! Another of my favourites is visiting the Galapagos Islands. I loved seeing all the different animals in their own environment instead of zoos.
Peru - Peru was a very beautiful place and I found it incredibly easy to get settled in, probably because it was similar to Ecuador, yet it was still unique. I have several memories that are favourites - one is Lake Titicaca which really was beautiful, like the islands on it as well, and another is Macchu Picchu, even though I spent the whole time with my head stuck in a book. It was a good one!! There are lots more but I probably don't have enough time or space to list them!
Bolivia - I haven't got much to say about Bolivia, as we were only there for one night, but my first impression was not very good - there wasn't a lot of friendly market places on the road sides but instead a couple of street fights. But all this brightened up when we got into the hotel. It was very posh and I enjoyed my stay there but then when we got to the airport it all got even worse as is explained in the blog.
Chile - After finally getting to Chile, we experienced a disastrous stay at an apartment in Santiago, due to a mix-up in reservations, but if this hadn't happened, we would never have met Tito, the owner's father, and we wouldn't have been able to stay with them later on in the holiday. We got through the night, anyhow, and in the morning we set off to the Chilean Andes, on the border of Argentina, in a people carrier that collected us early in the morning from the apartment. Skiing was great, there was good quality snow and I enjoyed having one to one lessons with Mario 'Fettuccini'. This was also where I met my American friend Mallory Stewart and her dad Gordon. When we sadly returned to Santiago, we were told we could stay with Tito and his wife, Piti, so we did. We had a good time there, with them and their two gorgeous dogs, and were sad when we had to leave, but we had a good time in Costa Rica too, so I suppose it wasn't all bad.
Costa Rica - We did so much in such a small amount of time in Costa Rica that it's hard to recount, but I do remember some detail. We arrived at Pura Vida in a taxi, and went straight to our room, called 'Katydid' and got unpacked. The meals there were delicious, and classic Costa Rican - colourful with lots of fruit, Finn didn't eat much! Here was also where we got a 4x4 car to drive around the rocky surroundings in. It served us well and was much needed when we were in Leaves & Lizards, where we took care of Chewy, or Chewbacca, the sloth, and went rapelling. Also in Pura Vida, we visited a coffee plant and a zoo, during our two visits there, first and last. Another hotel we stayed at was El Sol, the sun, and our German host, Elizabeth, greeted us there with a hug and warm food. During our stay there we visited the Frog Emporium, a bat zoo and zipwiring. I really enjoyed it, because it was adventurous and I thought I wasn't going to do it because I was quite wary of the height but I did it in the end and definitely don't regret it. The other place we stayed at was Costa Verde, where we went white water rafting. It was amazingly fun but it was over too soon and I wish I could do it again.
America - was very very very very very very very hot. We spent one night in the Hilton hotel, and in the morning, dad went to get the RV, almost backing out into a yellow taxi! We stayed in the RV for a week, at 2 different camping sites. It was fun, but we were almost living on the bare necessities and it was rather boring after a while. Then, we went to see the Duncans, Sarah, Colin, Charlie, Matt and Issy, who we stayed with for a week. My favourite part was when Charlie and Matt dressed up in Issy's clothes and she dressed up in Charlie's! Issy was renamed 'Ian', Matt was 'Matilda' and Charlie was 'Charlotte'. I was upset when we had to go but also delighted to be going back home.
