Today was 'Middle of the World' day. I was never sure about the water down the plughole thing about the northern and southern hemisphere, but now we've all seen it with our own eyes it's fascinating. you could actually feel the difference in the forces, literally 2 metres either side of the true equator! Angel, our driver for the day took us to a caldera first, to see the massive impact that an erupted volcano has to the layout of the land - losing thousands of metres in one big blast. then we all got our certificates for balancing an egg on a nail from patricia, our guide at the equator museum! we all loved the shrunken head - yikes - and the 7 metre anaconda skin! so we learnt how to fend off attackers with a blowpipe and a cotton bud. watch out! it's definitely best to go places in the morning and relax in the afternoon, as it's still rainy season here and the afternoons can be wet. well, they do say you get 4 seasons in one day at the equator !
