Well I have now done my 17 day tour from Bangkok to Singapore. One our first day we headed to floating markets then travelled to the River Kwai, I was amazed to realise that the bridge still gets used and as we were all walking along the train tracks a train was coming our way! We then headed to the River Kwai museum and was really interesting and sad to read about the Prisioners of War. We also got to visit the cemetry of all the young lives that were lost. That night we were heading to Koh Pan Ngan an island off Thailand. To get there we had to get an over night sleeper train, WOW that was an experience!!! As we were sitting at Nakhon Pathom station, I was really scared for the next 13 hours!! As the train drove past I could see they were really really basic!! As we got on board we were given our designated beds, they were actually not as bad as I thought (or maybe I am getting used to the backpacking way!!) I was delighted to hear that there was a DISCO on one of the carriges! So some of us headed up there and played cards and drank a few beers before settling down for the night!! I hardly slept but glad I experienced it!!! We then had to get the ferry to Koh Pan Ngan which took another 2 hours! We eventually arrived after lunch time and were driven by pick up trucks to the other side of the Island. We were living in beach bungalows for 4 nights, it was a nice island. Lovely beach, cafes, few bars. On the first night we all headed to the Half Moon party in the jungle, which was great fun! I was ill in bed with a virus for the rest of the days so I kinda missed out!! But I did manage to go on an elephant in the jungle!
After being on the island we headed to Satun, a little town with a few hotels and bars. We stayed there over night before leaving Thailand and entering Malaysia the next morning.
