Sunday day ten - woke early after a good sleep. It had been raining in the night but the sun was up at 7 and had some heat to it. The temperatures is the best for several days.
Went onto the decking and the wolves were prowling. Did not hear any howling last night. The other couple joined us and myself and the lady started howling to encourage the wolves and it worked. Each wolf has a different howl. One wolf stood on a rock looked upward and howled in a deep voice, soon the all joined in as a symphony. The sight and sound of these wolves moved me to cry. Absolutely perfect we joined in and they howled more. Once started they continued singly and as a pack. I will never forget this. Highlight of the trip amongst all the other highlights. Nature at its best.
Breakfast was a filling tortilla type. Home made and very good. A little tired we had a leisure,y start to the day. Decided to drive to livingstone a town 15 miles away. The highway was high up and had some stunning views. Parked on the street. Most of the shops were shut as it was Sunday. Went into an art gallery and had some food at a small cafe. Very American, had a soup and I had a sandwich followed by the largest ice cream. It was warm and getting hotter the further the day went.
Leaving livingstone we went to see the grizzly bears which is a reserve holding 5 rescue bears.
Only one bear is allowed out at a time. The bear was sat on the furthest rock looking out to the distance. He eventually got off and started playing with large logs and going into the water. Magnificent to see but very sad. Decided we did not want to see any in the wild!!!
Got back and took a ride up the road to see what was there. A few remote houses and that was all.
Went back to howlers and we were the only ones there. Sat on the decking and enjoyed the peace, I started howling and the wolves joined in. I felt at one with them. The howling was for at least ten minutes and again magical.
We did not want to leave.
