Well I'm actually back from London now but thought I might as well let everyone know what a very long day Wednesday was! We got the train at 8.50 in the morning to London - which was fine. I'd made the biggest packed lunch ever including cereal so I tucked in to that all the way there. Managed to find the Embassy ok so went for lunch at a pub up the road. Trotted off back to the Embassy to stand in a queue for about 30mins - very deceiving as I thought that once you were in the building that was all the queueing done - how wrong could I have been! After going through the metal detectors, having to hand over my camera and turn off our mobiles we were shoved in to a hot and sweaty room full to the rafters. Not much else to do but sit down and wait and wait and wait and wait a little bit more. Eventually my number got called out and refraining from shouting 'house' at the top of my lungs I trotted off to hand over my forms and have my finger prints taken - thinking that that was it and we could go and have a well deserved alcoholic beverage I was all ready for tootling out of the door...wrong again! That was only stage one of three stages so back off to sit down and sit in a queue some more. Eventaully I was called for my interview, well it was more of a chat with this American lady about why I chose to go to Connecticut and have my finger prints taken again. Then after that, yes you guessed it, more queueing, this time for the extortionate courier service to get your own passport back...so that is what I'm doing now...waiting for my passport that could arrive anytime between 8am and 6pm! After the Embassy we went to the pub for a couple of drinks and saw all the city slickers sipping champers...I stuck to the trusty vodka, lime and soda - well I had just had to pay £13.50 to get my own passport back - what's wrong with Royal Mail Special Delivery?? Well I'll update closer to the time - only starting to hit home now that I actually leave the country in 24 days - OH MY GOD!
