This morning, we headed out to find the "London Bridge Experience", because Gabe's really been wanting to do that. It's one of those interactive, "you are there" kind of deals. It's quite hard to find, and we had to wander a bit, but finally found it. It wasn't that exciting, and we were glad it was on our London Pass and we didn't have to pay 20+ pounds for it. Toria was really nervous about going in, because it said it's terrifying and she didn't want to go down in the tombs. The hosts are dressed like zombies or something, which also freaked her out. You go in to this dark tunnel, through the fabric of time, and a train comes at your with lights and whistle. OMG - she FREAKED and started crying. Then you go into a room with info on the history of London Bridge, and you find that all the people in there waiting have just watched you on their tv screens. There is a lot of waiting in dark rooms in the London Bridge Experience. Next is the Boudicea section, then the executioner, the night watchman, and finally the bartender. We opted out of the tombs, as it kind of sucked, and Victoria was very nervous. It also said if you have asthma or get migraines or seizures you should skip it, so we did.
Then we strolled down from London Bridge to Tower Bridge and ate lunch there. Gabe was excited to see the World War II ship, HMS Belfast. After we ate, we walked to the British Library and shopped around their bookstore a bit. We couldn't buy as many as we wanted, as we're limited by our suitcases, and already dread schlepping them through three train stations and two airports. Toria and I got a cool history book. We tried to have tea in the library, but they were out of scones, and we didn't want to wait for them to bake more.
After the library was the British Museum, and it's really impressive when you walk in. We saw: the Rosetta Stone, the "discombobulator", and a special exhibit on horses. They all got tired of my looking at stuff, so we left. We walked by a patisserie on the way home, and Toria was so awed that we stopped in. We also stopped at the market to get some pasta and beers for supper. Gabe got some apple juice, and it is so delicious. the rest of us don't like apple juice, and even admitted it was really yummy. It's very different than our apple juice; it tastes like liquid applesauce - hard to explain. Our pastas were really good, and we had peas, carrots, and salad... nice to have some fresh veg.
Our feet are all KILLING us. It will be nice to sit for a few hours on the train to Paris. We are all very tired, but don't want to miss anything! I think tomorrow we are going to try to do Hampton Court Palace with Abbey Road and the Natural History Museum. I can't believe tomorrow's already our last day in England!
