We started today at Epcot so we could go on our favorite ride, Soaring. It feels as though you are hang gliding over different Californian landscapes. You feel the cool air & smell the freshness while your feet dangle. We love it!
We also went on the Nemo ride & Living with the Land. The other best ride at Epcot, Fast Track was closed for renovations.
Just before midday we caught the monorail to Magic Kingdom. It wasn't too busy and our longest wait was 15-20mins. Some of the rides had signs up saying it would be a 10min wait but we virtually walked straight in.
We went on plenty of rides - Aladdin's Magic Carpets, Jungle Cruise, Splash Mountain (front row-our photo looks good), Big Thunder Mountain, Haunted Mansion, It's a Small World, Teacups & Barnstormer. We also went into The Hall of Presidents which we haven't seen before. It was really interesting. It started off as a movie giving a brief history of how the first President was chosen & featured some of the more significant Presidents through time. Then an animatronic Abe Lincoln appeared & gave the Gettysburg address - four score & seven years ago...... Towards the end of the presentation, all the Presidents appeared on the stage. They are very lifelike and move their hands, eyes, mouths etc. Some of them also sit and stand. Barack Obama introduces each of them & they nod as he does do. After they had all been introduced, Obama gave a short speech & they all looked at him. It was very, very clever.
Jane had told us to be sure to have a Dole Whip when in Adventureland. Trip Advisor even has a section about these. A Dole Whip is a cup of pineapple juice with a massive swirl of soft serve in the top. The soft serve can be vanilla, pineapple or orange. Maybe the original ones were vanilla but the ones with pineapple soft serve very very popular with bloggers. These are officially called Pineapple Floats. We went with these and they were absolutely delicious!!!! Thanks for the tip, Jane!
We had seen the Main Street earlier today & it came by again just as we were looking in the last shops before leaving. It is much smaller than the usual parade. Magic Kingdom closed at 7pm tonight do there was no Electric Light Parade or fireworks. There was fireworks later at Epcot as it was open until 9pm. Our last stop of the day was photos with the main mouse. Robyn was very happy as we hadn't seen him all day apart from on a float & dancing on stage in front of the castle.
We caught a boat from Magic Kingdom to the main transport centre. Then we got on the monorail to Polynesian Resort. From here we caught the bus to Downtown Disney. This is an area full of restaurants, eateries, bars & shops. We had dinner at Cap'N'Jacks where we had eaten last time we were here. This is also the place we were introduced to Pina Colavas. This is a drink very similar to a piña colada but it made with raspberry Bacardi & raspberry purée. They were just as delicious as we remembered them to be!
After diner we walked around the shops & bought some Disney souvenirs at the massive store there.
So many people are into the pin trading thing. Personally I just don't get it.
It was getting onto 11pm before we caught a bus back to our resort. The transport around Disney World is so easy. It is all included and you can get to any if the parks and resorts very easily.
Another fun but tiring day. It is now 12.35pm & we have a 7.5hr drive tomorrow. This is the longest one of the trip & Robyn has to do the whole lot because I still don't have my licence. So annoying.
