Baia Domizia and Amalfi Coast
15th-20th June
Day 1: Headed off again down the coast road to Pisa we saw the leaning tower it was much more impressive than in pictures it was amazing that it hadn’t fallen over yet we carried on down windy roads till we got to a camping ground it was quite expensive had nothing to do and was infested with mosquitos .
Day 2: left the boring camping ground and drove of through crops of sun flowers and other things. This time we had a much nicer camping ground waiting for us and it was cheaper . It had three pools a private beach an other things. It was huge!! we are staying for three nights
Day 3: Spent the day resting and doing diaries and things it was a very quiet day.
Day 4: Really hot today we drove up to Cassino to the Monte Cassino Abby it was first built in the 10th century since then its been destroyed 4 times the last time was in ww2 but it has been rebuilt it is on top of a hill so isn’t to hot and was really peaceful we also looked at the commonwealth Graveyard there was quite a few New Zealanders. went back for a swim.
Day 5: Headed away from our nice camp and headed for the Amalfi Coast first we went through Naples on the motor way to avoid the traffic then on to a tiny windy road around the Amalfi coast. There were huge rocky cliffs there was terraced land used to grow lemons , grapes, and other things. The sea was clear and the scenery was amazing. We drove through lots of little old villages but they were packed with people and there was heaps of cars so we couldn’t find a place to park. We stayed in a hotel in Minori because there were no camping grounds. We swam in the sea in the afternoon and had tea in a restaurant.
Day 6: This morning we walked up 1000 steps through lemon trees to a hill top village called Ravello . We came to a squere were they were selling ceramics and souvenirs and that was about it. We wandered through the streets looking at churchs and flash hotels there were great views. When we got sick of wandering we went back down the 1000 steps for a swim.
