Well, we got into the country alright...getting to the hotel was slightly more interesting. Turns out the hotel wasn't quite as close to Milan as we thought it was. So after getting 2 trains and finding some very friendly school kids, we got a bus and managed to find our hotel. After checking in and getting into our room...none of the electrics worked, so after a very jolly maintenence man came in (and thought he'd caught us having sex...despite us being fully clothed!) we eventually moved to a different (and smaller) room. After all that was sorted, we went for a walk round to see what we could find. We found a field full of goats! (i'm not kidding) and a petrol station. Through the art of international sign language we found out where the supermarket was, so off we went. After buying the essentials, beer and vodka, we went back to the hotel for the night. Thursday we decided to go into Milan, and discovered that if you act 'touristy' and lost enough not only will people direct you, but you also get to travel on public transport for free! In 4 days we've paid for 1 bus ticket each, and been on the bus 5 times. We got off the metro (we have to get a bus, train and metro to get into milan) at Milan Central Station, which is a huge, beautiful building. Though they are doing a lot of construction work on it at the mo, which ruins it a little bit. We spent most of Thursday and Saturday walking around Milan, without really finding anything. We might just have been walking in all the wrong places, but just seems that there's not a lot in Milan, and anything of interest is miles away from the centre. On Saturday, right outside the station, there were about 10 stalls set up, every single one of them selling chocolate! It's what Lisa's heaven looks like! We found a great pizza shop down the road from the hotel, freshly made in front of you, even the dough twirling and stuff, and cooked in a wood burning oven. We did have to guess at the toppings though, cos they were all written in italian (funny that!) We unsuccesfully worked it out though and they were amazing, even though my ham and cheese was swapped for Liam's anchovy one, cos he doesn't like anchovy's, and they were quite cheap! We've sorted out our journey to Switzerland and got 4 nights there, so will see what else we can get up to!
