We have had three unplanned days in La Paz now as we have been a little screwed up by over booked buses. Our next planned destination is Salar de Uyuni in the South of Bolivia. Unfortunately, it isn't the easiest part of Bolivia to get to, and days are precious this late into our 10 week trip, so we have been somewhat anxious to leave La Paz.
We arrived in La Paz from Lake Titicaca on the 28th June after a 3 hour local bus ride, the entire length of the journey I had my knees around my ears which was anything but comfortable. We had little planned for our second stay in La Paz, other than watch the final of the Euro Cup and enjoy the crazy witch craft markets and the like that define La Paz.
We slothed around for most of the three days whilst em recovered from her stomach bug. After some difficulty we organised a bus ride overnight, tonight, to Uyuni. Uyuni is a town on the edge of the world's biggest salt flats in the South of Bolivia near the border with Chile, called Salar de Uyuni. Salar de Uyuni translates as the Salt Flats of Uyuni. More on this destination in my next update, but if what other travelers have told us of Salar de Uyuni is true, it will be three thoroughly exhilarating days.
