Nervous Turkey!
What was expected to be a visit to a spa today instantly turned very weird and awkward when we arrived in the middle of the Sri Lankan countryside at a locals poorly built house. The local we had met the night before as he work in the restaurant that we were eating at. He told us he owned his own spa called "Ecstasy Villa" and we should visit to see the real country. For a good price were getting a full body massage and rice with curries. It a all sounded great until the moment we were sat on garden chairs in his dingy abode making small talk with a guy that kept repeating "I no like noise, just relaxing". The dreadlocked entrepreneur made us tea then show us out into his garden we we sat in the middle of some trees. We didn't know what we were supposed to be doing. As he just kept saying "Just wait, relax." A task that is hard to achieve in such a creepy environment. Eventually he took Matt for his massage and left Char in the jungle hammock for an hour and a half. The massage was actually very good. Then Char went in for hers, which was good apart from a few personal space invasions. The guy was being very professional and it soon became clear after a conversation over the homemade curry and rice that he is harmless and really trying his best to build a business out of not a right lot to support his wife and child. Nevertheless we couldn't wait to escape and with a forceful "Right, I think we are ready to go!" from Matt we were in a tuk tuk in no time. The guy thought he was providing ultimate relaxation and wanted us to stay all day and be his "friends" but he has obviously participated in too much weed and meditation to realise the true vibe of an atmosphere.
Due to the never ending rain we took refuge in our huge comfy bed and watching tv for the evening.
