We all slept in a little bit today and took more time to get going in the morning, but still made it in time for free breakfast! We then headed over to Buckingham Palace to see the changing of the guards, which ended up being a cluster*. There were sooo many people there and kids sitting on dads shoulders so that they were blocking every other person. It seemed like a cool ritual (what little we could see of it) but also I think since we have the corp, it had similarities and wasn't that different for us to see. Pretty sure we provided some entertainment for those around us with our commentary on everything...
When we gave up on trying to watch anything else, we walked past a park over to Westminster which was, of course, gorgeous. There was lots of people watching to be done so we sat down on the lawn and were entertained by the Asians, a normal for us now, and watched multiple people take what they were attempting to be professional poses in awkward poses.
We made our way past Big Ben again and then over to Trafalgar Square with the big lions and large stone monument. After taking a plethora of pictures and awkwardly climbing up the lions we got some Mickey D's for lunch and sat on the steps to eat. Accidentally fed a pigeon, which were not all over the place surprisingly like you would think. Then we walked through Admiralty Arch and down towards Buckingham Palace, hoping to get a picture with the guards, but being unsuccessful. Picadilly Circus was next on our list so we took the tube over there but didn't stay long because it was mostly stores and London has already depleted our bank accounts. Our last stop was the London Bridge which was pretty cool looking!
It started raining just a tad bit on our way, the first real London weather we were expecting for the whole trip! We took a break back at our hostel and packed and then went for a night stroll to Big Ben and the London Eye so we could see London at night. It was so pretty! We got some desserts and just sat on a bench and looked at the Big Ben.
I am so excited for the rest of our trip but also don't want to leave London. So bittersweet! Tomorrow morning, aka 4:30am, we are getting up to head to Amsterdam!
