I have been in London for 4 months now, though it feels like only the other day I was bidding farewell to my comfortable life back at the nest. The most surreal feeling of my life thus far, saying goodbye indefinitely as I stepped away from a gathering of loved ones into an empty departure gate, I was alone. At this point, a realisation I'd been supressing since the conception of this move swept over me, I was mere steps away from flying to the northern hemisphere, the otherside of the world, leaving my old, familiar life behind to start life abroad and begin my new life as an expate and paramedic. As I made my way through the departure gate my mind was heavy with fond thoughts of my family and friends who I may not see for sometime, insecurities of entering my profession and the anxieties of the unknown. Though with the echoing final words of Charlie Ephraims in my mind - "stay focused Liam" - I continued on, into the abyss, placing my earphones in their respective positions and hitting 'play' - let this new chapter begin.
