hey again, after i went upstairs from updating my blog i met wendy who just arrived from las vegas and is staying in my dorm, we got chatting and went to the beer pong, which involves throwing a ping pong ball across a table to try and get into a cup which the other team have to drink, but there were so many rules we just went to the shop and bought some coors light (girly beer) and sat and drank them instead in the ballroom (yes my hostel has a ballroom, although the ceiling is falling in on one side!!) we proceeded to get quite drunk and met a couple people, notably a strange irish guy who neither of us can remember the name of and he disappeared anyway! and a german guy called fabian who was only staying for one night and going back the mission area as he thinks it better down there! anyway i got a bit lost in the hostel trying to find a free bathroom which was funny, its all long corridors of rooms and bathrooms and eventually i found my way back! we were laughing so much we had to stay outside the dorm so we didnt wake anyone up!
had a bit of a hangover yesterday, stilli got up at half 8 thanks to wendys trusty alarm clock and walked to pier 33 to get my boat to alcatraz, its bloody freezing today. still no sign of this famous fog, can see bridge v clearly, almost disappointed about not seeing fog!! feel as if missing out! boat takes about 12mins to alcatraz island and you then get told where to go and how to get there, you have to walk up a long way (equivilant of 13 story building although there is a little motorised vehicle but only for the 'mobility impaired') and then you go and get your audio tour thing, which is just an mp3 player and headset, and you walk to where is says start tour here and switch it on, magic! the tour is so good, its really freaky there, i actually go quite scared in d block inside one of the solitary confinement rooms, i had this fear someone would shut the door on me! its really eerie because you know people have been murdered or committed suicide there and stuff so its quite sobering. well worth a visit.
went to the aquarium by the bay after and learnt about all the fish and sharks in the bay, they even have nemos and dorys! took some cool pictures of sharks in the glass tunnels (actually the safest building in the event of an earthquake oddly it had a plaque telling me this).
