Hello all, hope everyone is well and enjoy the next little update!
Since leaving Gemma's Aunts and cousins we have madde our way back up to Picton for a few nights before heading over to the North Island. We had to get to Picton a few days before the ferry because we had booked on a dolphin swim in the Marlborough Sounds. It was good to get out there and get in the water (fully wet suited up) but it was cold! And unfortunately the dolphins weren't playing ball! Despite our best singing efforts we couldn't get them to come close, Gemma's nursery rhymes and even my best Spice Girls just weren't good enough.
Since then we have crossed back to the north island, been to the place with the worlds longest place name, look at the picture cos there is no way I can remember how it is spelt, and then driven up to Napier to meet up with Jenny and Steve who we met in Peru for yet more trekking. Thing is they call it tramping over here and you stay in little back country huts with 10 to a bunk. We did the Lake Waikaremoana walk which is basically a circuit round a very big lake with one huge climb and everything for 3 days on your back! 6 hours up hill! The whole thing was 3 days/2 nights and was really good fun, the weather held up till the last morning when it pissed down for all 6 hours od our walk but the sun shone when we got back to camp for deserved beers and meals other than pasta!
We are now in Gisborne on the east coast of the North Island and we are heading off shortly to make our way up to the East Cape, apparently this is really off the tourist track so it will be cool to see some real NZ in a way!
That's all really I suppose, ill try and do some photo's now and speak to you all soon
