Yesterday was the longest day ever! Got woken up by @ 3am by an almighty bang (which I have no idea wot is was) & couldn't get bk 2 sleep, so decided 2 wake my dorm m8s up 4 a chat. Had 2 catch the coach @ 6:15am 2start my 14day trip up2 Cairns.

The group consists of 6 guys & 24 women. 3 of which we meet in the wk. Some of the women R the ones I already met @ the hostel including the 2 Austrians from my Dorm. 2 R from Germany, 2 from Holland, 2 from Switzerland, 1 from Canada (who is on her honeymoon wiv her husband) & the others R English except from a girl from Llantwit Major! I knew there would B 1 from Wales.

The tour guide is Lana from New ZealandThe coach driver (also called Leigh) had 2 stop every 2 hours 2 update his Tacho, wot a nightmare as it took just ova 8 hrs 2 get 2 Byron Bay from Sydney, but we got 2 see some sites like the Big Banana, Big Prawn & kangaroos in the wild & I actually ate a kangaroo pie from a cafe on the side of the road! Skippy tasted really nice, next 1 will either B an emu or be a crocodile pie.

As we left Sydney each of us 2 stand @ the front of the coach & tell every1 our names, where we from, why we were doin the trip, our favourite animal & make the noise of it. I went fifth, my opening statement was "My name is Lee and Im an alcoholic". It went down really good as every1 laughed. I then went on2 tell them that Im not an actually alcoholic, but do enjoy a drink. My favourite animal was a fish, so I did my goldfish impression.

All the passengers in the aisle seats had to move every 3mins 2 get 2 know the other passengers. Some were tricky than others as not evry1 spks good english. Most of the girls have boyfriends bk home & 1 has a husband, but there was no harm in askin!

When we arrived at Byron Bay we got 2 our camp site & I had paid 2 stay wiv 3 others, but they gave me chalet 2 myself, which is gr8, double bed & plenty of sleep 4 2 nites anyway.

Not a lot of nightlife in Byron Bay as it is aplace mainly 4 hippies & surfers, there is a club called Cheeky Monkeys & that was chocka block, but really cheesy music. The Welsh girl & I ended findin a little bar which was open til 3am. Once again every1 has 2 carry ID just 2 get in2 places.

Every1 met 4 brekkie this mornin at 8:30am b4 we got 2 head off on planned trips. Mine is a lazy day
