Day 14 We had to wait for one of our drivers to do a skydive before starting our journey to Wanaka (honestly do they know who we are!). It was a smooth ride through more lakes and mountains, all Lord of the rings country.

Day 12. After a hard day hitching we slept in until the cleaners woke us up at 10.30. We really want to do a full day trip on the glacier as a half day is $80 and a full day is only $115, plus how many glaciers do you get the chance to walk on!? Day 13. Up early for the day on the Glacier. The pictures say it all really. It was an amazing experience and weird to think that I was actually standing on a huge bit of ice. The walk there was pretty scary as we had to hold on to a chain along narrow sections of the mountain and avoid the 150m sheer down on the other side (looking down was very scary). Day 9. We left Wellington on the 1pm ferry to Picton (crossing the Cook Strait to the South Island). It took about 3hrs but we took in some really nice views. Day 7. Up early to cach a lift with the 2 German girls to Wellington. They were pretty cool actually so the 6hr drive wasn’t as bad as it could be.
