Day 3
We woke up around 2 cos of the late night and went to the library so I could play some poker and earn some money back. In New York library though you cant use the plug sockets so we just used internet until my battery died.
After that we went to Union Sq which was pretty dull. After some grub it was getting late so we went to a few bars in Times Sq and watched the New York Knicks play on a MASSIVE screen in the ESPN bar. After a few more bars we went home. We did managed to get some info from a barman as to where people in New York go out. So far all we see in bars are men in suites talking about money and shares, so we don’t really fit in!
We have a good tip about a busy corner of Greenwich Village that has live Blues, Jazz and rock. Most importantly it’s the local hot spot, so hopefully there will be a younger crowd. Going there Sat night after our pro Lacrosse experience.
P.S - I bought an Ipod that didn’t work so I have to take that back L . $100 for 2gig…..bargain!
The unprecedented hi-light of our third day was confirming our acquaintance with fellow room mate Cuba Gooding Junior lookalike. Although he feels we are familiar enough to view photos of naked conquests he proudly took with a disposable camera, we don’t actually know his name yet. Last night I awoke to his dolcet tones shouting next to me ‘yo player! Keep it down you’re keeping us up’ then ‘what the f**k was that’ - Door slams as he marched out in his full length long johns he parades around in to sort out Aussies arguing outside. He’s pretty much our only friend in the hostel and has told us tales of Shaq O’neill being a policeman, among other tall tales Lee mostly converses with him. He left to ’take care of some business’ today and has a habit of shaking any snorers and throwing magazines at them (he doesn’t stand for anything and is rude as you could possibly be to intimidated young travelers).
