OK... I take back what I said about Santiago being different to any other city in South America... I was clearly dazed by the snow-capped mountains (which we have not seen again since the day we arrived due to the mixture of fog and smog). We went into the centre the other day and it´s the same situation as before... only walk down the main streets, homeless everywhere and grafitti covered buildings. I think we are getting too used to South America now and need a change.
It was quite funny when having lunch in the centre... we ordered chicken soup and a plate of water came out with a cooked chicken on top! It tasted good though.
We are looking into car hire for tomorrow and Wednesday to get out of the city for a change. Apparently the coastal towns are beautiful. Everyone we have spoken to so far in Santiago tell us to get out the city and I can see why... there is really not much to see.
Uploaded some photos for those interested.
Roll on New Zealand... can´t wait!
