All arrived safe and well in Bangkok, Thailand after a very teary goodbye to our families. The airport at bangkok was manic, people everywhere shouting and balling. We were taken to our hotel, the Bangkok Asia and it was absolutely out of this world. We had a bell boy, silk sheets, mini bar, satellite tv, pool on the roof and 3 restaurants, what more can ya ask for!!! The first thing we noticed aout Bangkok, was that it stank from the high heavens. You could so not walk along the street with a hangover, as the smells where overwhelming. Spent about a week in bangkok, awaiting the rest of our tour group, who we would then join to travel through the rest of thailand, malaysia and singapore. Spent most of our days in kho san rd, which was amazing for shopping. Done the usual touristy thing and stocked up on the old von dutch specials. You could always tell who had been to thailand when they wore the von Dutch tag. Ate mainly Burger King everyday, one cos we were scared of the thai food and two, we are fat lassies. never really drank much as we were really scared and a bit too street wise. One night we went to a bar on Kho San Rd and had Samsung Buckets, which is the local whiskey. It is lethal stuff, but dirt cheap. Whilst in the pub, claire accidentally puts off her personal alarm. We were mortified, Thai cops running about everywhere, locals thinks it was some sort of danger alert, and worse of all, everyone staring at the 4 daft lassies drinking the whiskey at the front of the bar.
