This weekend, we spent in Rotorua, which is the Maori central in New Zealand. We arrived on the Friday and had a Maori dinner show in the evening. To our surprise we were the only white people in the whole room - everybody else was a Japanese tourist, which was slightly off putting. Nevertheless, we had a good evening and the show was great.
The next day was spent doing fun filled activites. Firstly we went to Wai-o-tapu, which is a geothermal park. Here we saw lots of things such as a geyser exploding and various thermal pools. The only downside was that some pools did rather smell!!! After that we went to Hells gate which is a spa centre. Here we had a mud bath and a sulphur spa. In the afternoon we went to Rainforest zoo, were we saw our first Kiwi. There were other creatures native to New Zealand such as the Kea. For dinner we went to a restaurant were we had to get a gondala. The food was good.
On the Sunday we went back up the gondala and did a luge run down. We then headed down to the gloworm caves, which was fantastic. We were given a tour around the caves then we stepped onto a boat to see the gloworms. After this we headed back to Taranaki after having a great weekend.
