Day Two- Arrived in Melbourne
HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!!!!!!!!
So the plane ride was a beauty! I was lucky to get on one of the five Qantas 370s, which gave me a tad bit of extra room and a very smooth ride. I even sat beside my adopted aussie parents.. Mr and Mrs Marshall no joke. Mr Alan Marshall to be exact.. how awesome?! The flight was amazing considering I slept half the way.. thank god for Melatonin (natural supplement).. and I'm not AS jet lagged as I was last trip here... but don't get me wrong.. I AM still jet lagged. LOL
Right now I'm safe and sound in my new "home" for the next three days—Discovery Hotel (aka a hostel!). It's a pretty nice hostel, very confusing to a jet lagged Canadian though.. I don't know how many times I walked up and down the stairways trying to figure out how to get to the main common area. I was also challenged when it came to finding my actual dorm room. I wandered around a few times going right and left down the corridor when I exited the elevator. Eventually, (after thinking I was the dumbest Canadian around) I found my room in an awkward spot kinda BEHIND the elevator. Way to trick a jet lagged traveler…kudos Discovery Hotel.
Well finding the room was now over...I swipe my key and push the door to find that I am in a room FULL of guys. Yup…so it was a co-ed dorm, but looks like I'm the only female. No worries mate, I'm used to hanging around guys. The best part, they are all sleeping and here I am trying to find all my shower stuff without waking them! I quickly grab some random clean clothes and any toiletries I can find and hit the much needed showers! Come back… still sleeping. So I decide to go check out the downstairs.. get lost in this castle of a hostel… return…still sleeping. Ok so it's like 1pm by now and I think they've left, but I'm too bothered to go in again.. so I'll continue to hang in the common room and try to make friends. LOL nothing like being alone in a weird country. I should actually get going and give my aussie friend Lachlan a ring.
All the best,
Leah
