Hello again everyone!
After the excitement and mass fun of the past few weeks we have a lot to tell you about the trials and tribulations that has occurred since we left our last blog! We were to go to the islands at the south of Thailand, chillax out on the beaches and hit the Full Moon party on the 10th March (a beach party that consists of thousands of people getting leathered and dancing to 'r and or b' that happens once a month (for obvious reasons)).
We left Pai in the wretched mini bus again. We did have the choice of Motorcycling through to Chiang Mai (where we'd get our bus to Bangkok-about a 12 hour bus journey) but after the falling experience of the previous week we thought we'd risk death-by-mini-bus as opposed to death-by-motorbike and put our lives in someone elses hands instead of our own. It turned out the journey wasn't as bad as the way there. Not as much puke on the floor of the bus this time.
Our 12 hour bus ride to Bangkok was fine-we're getting used to these hefty bus rides now. We had a night in Bangkok and headed out for a couple of drinks. We drank a bucket that had no alcohol in, even when we asked them to put more in they did and it just tasted even sweeter. Leanne enjoyed strutting round the markets AGAIN and I ate some grasshoppers.
So the next day we got on another bus, this time heading for the Port where we jumped on a boat and and sailed to one of the three main islands in Thailand, Ko Samui-and we even met a couple of lads (tom and jerry) on the bus that were from Solihull who were sat in the seats in front of us! Sillhillian Scumbags.
In Koh Samui the resort was ace! It was great because we had the luxuries of a pool and breakkie in the morning... and fantastic weather! We even had a tv in the room and we watched some footy and the film 'Dave'! Lea dragged me around the markets AGAIN and she ended up buying some bags, jewellrey and a hat, and the dodgy russian next door and his late night 'shenanigans' provided some good laughs for us!
The next day we beached it up. The weather was spliffing! It was the first chance we'd got to see sand and sea so we really made the most of it. We lay and lay and lay for about four hours! We put tons of sun tan lotion on that we'd bought from 'Bahtland' in Bangkok (the equilavlent to Poundland) but it seemed we were getting redder and redder and redder. It started to sting. Two hours later I was as red as a bloody lobster! Leanne had a huge red patch in between her boobs and the pain was excruciating for us both. We wondered what the hell had happened as we really used a lot of the suntan lotion that day. Anyway, it turns out that the stuff we'd bought from 'Bahtland' was as fake as my Calvin Kloon boxers. It was basically like rubbing on water! My head a had a huge white patch where my hair line was. It was pretty uncomfortable to say the least! Nevertheless we absolutely loved our time in Ko Samui. We had free beach bbq parties in the evening, strolls along the beach and spent time in the pool in the day. We really relaxed there.
We then headed to Koh Phangan, which was just a small boat journey. We found out that our resort was quite away from the hustle and bustle of the main town so it would take a good motorbike journey of about 45 minutes to get there. the Full Moon Party was also there. So on the first day we jumped on a bike and thought we'd spend the day exploring... no such luck! No sooner had we jumped on the bike, we were off it AGAIN! This time it was me riding it. Leanne lost her hat off the bike so we turned round to get it and we were going so slow that we came to a halt and the angled wheel bought down the bike! I botched Leanne's knee up good a proper. there was no way she could stay on the bike so unfortunately we were 'man down' for that day.
But after she recovered we really made the most of the next five days on the island. We ate some great food, especially the fresh barbequed fish.(white snapper especially) Leanne did some scubadiving that she really enjoyed, although looked really daft in her suit! And of course we had a right laugh at the Full Moon party!! We met some girls at our resort that were really up for a laugh so thats what we did. We got to the party at about midnight, as thats when it really gets going and it would give us a chance to see the sunrise. There were soo many people on the beach-apparently about 5,000! Thats more than St Andrews sees on a Saturday afternoon! The music was blaring and the beer was flowing! There were food stalls too so no one went hungry. A few people crashed out and were practically dead on the beach but we kept going and saw in the morning sun. But the sun didn't stop us. We even carried on dancing on the tables in a restaurant at breakfast to a few classics! We eventually rolled back in at about 10am and then slept til 5pm that evening. It was a crackin experience but quite a knackering one and I'm sure I've not quite recovered!
Our next destination is Vietnam and then Laos, cant wait!
Hope you are all well, chat soon! Dave and Lea xxx
