We're driving a loop from chiang mai, through pai, mae hong son and mae sariang. The roads are good in Thailand and drivers are very polite but we weren't expecting this many bends in the road. The loop we're driving has become famous for the curves, and so far we have conquered 2087. And some of this bends double back on themselves all the way through the mountains. This means whoevers not driving at the time is probably suffering from motion sickness.
We arrived in mae hong son, a sleepy mountain town. At the center of the town is a small lake, on one side a temple and on another the place where we're staying. At night the place lights up with a few market stalls selling handmade goods, and a few food stalls. We're definately getting more off the beaten track; less signs in english, much more thai.
The place is quiet and pretty, the own let down is the huge amount of dog poo around the lake; theres barely room for another dog to poo. So come on people pick up after your dogs.
Last night whilst eating dinner we happened upon a bag pipe player, probably the only in thailand; the locals were quite amuse; "its very noisy".
Tomorrow we continue our route towards mae sariang and a further 1000 curves in the road...
