Bangkok, Thailand
So we're here in bangkok, sorry to you all freezing back home but its 33 degrees and we are told that this is the cool season! we've only been here one day but are loving the craziness of it already! so i'll start from when we sat on the plane, so jb was excited that he had a window seat (loser) and i was in the middle, we got talking about who would be sat next to me and i joked probably so fat balding weirdo , well whadda ya know some fat balding weirdo rocks up. So we got talking and he was canny enough he told us he actually lives out in thailand and has a thai wife blah blah seemed kinda normal until i asked him where he reccomends we go in bangkok, that was a mistake he proceded to tell us that we should go to the 'ping pong' shows if you don't know what these are they are basically shows where thai wommen do rude things with snakes and ping pong balls, i then asked him where he thinks we should go for some culture and again proceeded to talk about how cheap it is for a s**g! so for the rest of the flight i pretended to be asleep.......
So our first night in Bangkok was amazing! Helz you were right about all the traffic....mental! we saw a family of 4 on one motorbike with no helmets, safety is not a priority here! we first walked out the hotel (which is lovely btw rooftop garden terrace, really clean and our own little tv's by our bunks) and were confronted by all these amazing smells, sights and sounds i thought my head was goin to spin off there's that much to take in! We ended up walking along Khao san road which is filled with bars and restaurants, really lively. The street food looks amazing (Fresh prawns ben!) we haven't tried any yet but will sample tonight some of it looks a bit random i'm sure one stall was selling fried cockroaches! so funnily enough we ended up in this bar called 'mollys' bar mollys watching over us! They had a live band on and the guy had an amazing voice and sang leonard cohen hallejuah, imagine john lennon and bob dillan tamberine man, this is one moment i shall never forget whilst tamberine man was on and all of a sudden about 100 sky lanterns were released in the sky it was beautiful and surreal, pearso we thought of you as i know this is your favourite song! We then went to a few more bars and listened to more live music and stumbled back to the hotel full of chang beer!
Today we got up about 12.00 as we had been up well over 30 hours so needed some kip! We left the hotel with a map and couldnt seem to find the train station and then this little thai angel called nina came to our rescue, she walked us all the way about 15 minutes to the thai government tourist agency, she asked us all about our lives and shared her story with us and she owns a beauty store so we're going to go and see her tomorrow for a massage! The lady in the agency was also really helpful and booked all of our accomodation and trains to changmai, stopping off at ayutthaya and sukahthai to see all of the famous temples and meditate with buddhist monks! We're doin a jungle trek for 2 nights in changmai and get to ride elephants, ELEPHANTS!! i finally persuaded jb to ride an elephant!!! Then we fly to koh samui and koh tao for christmas where we meet up with jess and charlie! who are still in china at the moment.
So all in all we're loving it and the people are so friendly, smiley and welcoming i really have fell in love with the thai's (especially nina) Mam and dad we're ok!!
So we'll tryn blog a couple of times a week, Love to you all xxx
p.s i said i would mention Adam in every blog as he has to be the center of everything as per so hello my afro prince, i sat with a chang beer last night surrounded by fairy lights and lady boys and thought of you.......
