Hi guy's just a quick update while we have access to a PC. Wanted to tell you about the Blue Mountains and 3 sisters that we visited in Katoomba. We booked a tour through Oz Trek and our guide (Jim) picked us up at 7am - we were knackered! Jim was the funniest, most passionate and knowledgeable man you will ever meet. He's been everywhere and done everything and can speak a zillion languages - he was hysterical. Our first stop was to take a look at the blue mountains. The weather was a bit grey and overcast but the views were stunning (photies to follow). Next we drove through a rain forest and had our first sighting of kangaroos, there were loads of them so Jim stopped the bus and we got out to take photies. There were about 15 of us on the tour, ages ranged from 20 to 50 and we all got along so well, a really great atmosphere. After the kangaroos the weather started to pick up and soon it was hot!. We drove for lunch then off for an hours walk in the rainforst. We had the most amazing views of the 3 sisters which are a rock formation with a great Aborigine myth behind then. What I didn't realise on the walk was that we were surrounded by funnel web spiders and some of the guys on the tour took photies of them!!!! Thank god I didn't know about them until after the walk had finished cos there's no way id of gone otherwise! The picture you can see above is Oz's steepest rail track, we took the ride and it was vertually horizontal, an experience to say the least! After the walk/train ride Jim took us on a tour of Katoomba, then the Sydney Olympic village (where he was a volunteer in 2000) Next we hopped on a ferry which took us from the Olympic village back to Sydney harbour (with a few detours in between), it was a great way to see Sydney. Stayed in a YHA hostel that night which was much, much better than the last few but.... no double rooms, we had to share a bunk bed... Stu bagsied top bunk!
