Started the day off with breakfast in the Jade Lounge - yummy!! Eggs, biscuits, and Reindeer sausage (sorry Rudolf…)
We went off on our own mini excursion today starting with the Anchorage Museum. There we learned about the various "tribes" that lived in the Alaska - we saw relics, canoes, homes, and clothing. As well we saw the "education or enlightenment" of the natives to the white man's ways.
There were many artists with different mediums from oil paint to photography who immortalized the Alaskan wilds - unbelievable artistry. Also the Smithsonian had an exhibit which was awesome showing various styles of clothing, tools, games, etc. Very well presented.
We did the usual gift shops and picked up our tourist paraphilia. One item we searched diligently for was the ever elusive "Para Cord Bracelet". We enjoyed lunch at Rumrunners. I had breaded crab strips and Kelly had an order of Nachos. It was huge and was glad our waitress suggested the half order. Otherwise I would have had to use the panoramic view on the camera take in the picture of the full order J BTW she never even ate half of the half order.
Next - you won't believe this - we went to the liquor store where I wanted to pick up a six pack of none other than Alaska Amber Ale and 26'er of Vodka for the ship (to be disguised in a transparent Rumrunner flask.) I was asked for ID and did not have it…they denied me my purchase!!!! ….lol. I am heading back later with my ID. Now, the funniest part, at the corner outside of the store, a couple approached us and said that they too had been asked for ID and they were……..70yrs old and laughing about the whole thing as we were!!!!
Tonight we ate at the Glacier Brew House. We enjoyed pizza such as my sausage and blue cheese pizza - the sausage was yet again reindeer…. :( Sorry kids and Kelly had chicken and bacon pizza. I thoroughly enjoyed my microbrewery pale ale and Kelly her raspberry ale.
We met a super nice couple from California who are driving through various parts of Alaska and we enjoyed sport talk of the Olympics, Leafs, Canadiens, and baseball in general.
Tonight we are packing everything up in preparation of the trip south to Seward.
The time is 11:08 but honestly looks like 8ish at home. Seems we sleep, eat and travel all daylight long…lol
Thanks for reading!!

Jolene I've camped up in the Yukon/Alaska in summer. Isn't it amazing that the sun "dips" only, then around 3am it starts to rise again; but the rising feels weird as it hasn't actually set yet! So beautiful! ...make sure you have your ID for the cruise! lol! Laurie, you do look young for your age!
