Lauren's Life
Hi all,
so since the last update i have gotten over my kayaking ordeal and i'm all fine.
So after Hoi'An where there were loads of tailors and we got clothes made and generally chilled, we flew to Saigon. First impression was not gr8, bit ugly during the day really. But in the evening it was really pretty with all the lights and i ended up liking it.
In Saigon - or Ho Chi Minh city as it is now called, we went to visit the tunnels that were used by Vietcong during the vietam war. We went in them and they were tiny, hundreds of metres and sooo dark, don't now how they managed. Katie's head torch came in very handy i can tell u that - no more taking the piss out of her now! Then we went to the war museum and it was very moving, pictures of all the 'war children' who have serious disabilities from Agent Orange the gas the Americans used to destroy villages etc. The pictures were so sad :(
That night, laura and I (mummy i know when to use I and me now from ur rule!) were hungry for chocolate as always, and we went into a random newsagents. Weirdly we bumped into 2 friends! So strange, so we went out for dinner with them that evening and it was really fun. We're probably going to see them tomorrow aswell as they are in Cambodia in Siem Reap too.
Also, in Saigon i bought Seven jeans for 6 pounds!!!! So exciting!
We then got the bus and boat across to Phnom Pen in Cambodia which was an experience i can tell u that! Our group was really lovely we went out for dinner with them last night and we're meeting up with them here tomorrow.
So we got a couple of buses and about 6 different boats over a 2 day period. The first day we were on a really small boat and it was terrential rain! I had another mild panic attack but it was funny. The second day was nicer, we went on rowing boats to see a fish farm and a local village. Was all good. We arrived in Cambodia at 6pm which was 2 hours late! And i got dehydrated but had the whole group looking after me. There are a couple who have taken us under their wing and they are like big brother and sister to us! So cute!
Now i'm in Siem Reap about to go to see Ankor wat - the start of our 3 day sight seeign of a system of hundreds. They were templed used to film tomb raidor and Indiana Jones! So cool. We're gonna see the sunset!
Anyway, gotta go.
Much love,
L xxx
