24 hours in L.A. Complete eye opening experience for me as my first time in the USA. Was exactly how I expected, L.A is definately the America from the movies! Just flying in and looking out the window was a complete shock, coming from New Zealand, with a tiny population of just 4 million, and looking down over the endless sprawl that seemed to go on for as long as the eye could see!
Rocked up to immigration in our ´party glasses´ not quite sure if the immigration officer found it as funny as we did! Our hotel/motel/holiday inn was just out of a film, the reception has mirrored walls, jukebox hawian print curtains and flowery carpet complete with two every friendly receptionists. To top it off Hotel California was playing in the background. And got a host of freebies including Muffins and coffee for breakfast!
A quick LA by night tour meant I ticked the sights of my list. Ie Hollywood sign, Kodak Theatre, Sunset Bolovard, Universal Studios (threw a quick KFC and Ben and Jerrys down our necks...´when in Rome´) and then Beverly Hills to re-live Pretty Woman (not literally!).
Great first taste of the USA. All of it seemed like a big dream thanks to my jet lag (LA is 16 hours behind Christchurch so actually gained a day while in mid flight, making it offically the longest day of my life!). Anyway on to Mexico....
